Two key promotions for Westcotts’ Plymouth management team
We have announced the promotion of two members from our Plymouth office. Tax manager Sean Bolter is now a director at Westcotts and accounts senior Paul Maddock becomes a manager.
The two colleagues joined the firm within months of each other and have since enjoyed working together as part of Westcotts’ advisory team.
Sean, who oversees a varied portfolio of clients from personal tax clients, small owner managed businesses to larger corporate groups, has worked at Westcotts for nearly eight years.
He said: “In that time, I’ve built up really good relationships with my clients and the people whom I work with, so to have this recognition means a great deal. I’m excited to continue to develop these relationships and look forward to the additional responsibility that directorship will bring.”
Sean has a background in accounting in industry and outstanding technical taxation and accounting knowledge.
When he’s not in the office, Sean enjoys running and walking in Plymbridge Woods with his energetic dogs, two Sprocker spaniels.
Colleague Paul Maddock joined Westcotts in 2016 after a career change. He had been working in the hospitality industry but when a leg injury meant he had to take on a temporary administrative role, Paul became interested in the numbers behind the business.
He decided to retrain to be an accountant and has never looked back.
“I feel like I’ve moved into a job I can be proud of,” said Paul. “I really enjoy dealing with clients. I like to think I’m pretty approachable and I’ve built up a good rapport with many of them as my job has evolved.”
Paul says his promotion to manager marks the latest development in what he hopes will be a long and successful career.
“It’s nice to think that people have put their trust in you and know you can get on with the job,” said Paul, who enjoys working for such a friendly team.
“This is going to sound silly but the industry I was in before could often make you feel like you were just a number. But here everybody knows me, from the top to the bottom. Everyone is so approachable and wants you to do well.”
Paul, dad to two daughters, aged three and six, enjoys supporting Plymouth Argyle in his spare time and tries to go to as many matches as he can.
