New apprentice joins Westcotts Payroll team

At Westcotts we are excited to share that our payroll team has welcomed a new member to help service demand in the region.

The payroll team supports businesses across the South West to help them get this technical and time-consuming process right for their employees, freeing up valuable time for business leaders to do what they do best.

Abbey Hacking has joined as an Apprentice Payroll Administrator, responsible for supporting with processing payrolls and ensuring these are conducted on time and in line with regulation. This includes making sure that hours are inputted correctly, and PAYE liability payments are up to date. Alongside this day-to-day activity, Abbey is completing her CIPP training across eighteen months.

Abbey previously completed a LLB (Hons) Law with Criminology degree before going on to undertake a postgraduate degree in teaching mathematics.

Abbey said: “I wanted a job where I could combine my passion for law with my knowledge of mathematics and payroll seemed the obvious choice. Westcotts values of team work, respect and dedication to service and building trust meant I knew this was the right company for me.

“I’m really looking forward to expanding my knowledge as I complete my apprenticeship. Conducting payroll operations is very different from anything I have done previously, but I’m enjoying expanding my knowledge and developing my confidence with the support of colleagues.”

HMRC has introduced real time reporting, pension auto enrolment duties, and there is a lot more to come. At Westcotts we have a strong payroll team to support businesses with these changes and a key part of this is growing and nurturing talent. Abbey is already proving to be a very important member of the team and we are delighted to support Abbey with her payroll career.”
