Westcotts announces support for five new charities for 2024/25
At Westcotts, we are committed to supporting the communities in which we live and work. That is why every year, we choose and then fundraise for our chosen charity. This year every region of the Westcotts office network has selected their own charity to support for 2024/2025. This means we now get to support the important work of five charities!
Every team member was able to nominate a charity of their choosing before a vote was held to pick the winner.
Our teams in Central Devon have nominated the Exeter Leukaemia Fund, a charity which provides vital support to patients with blood cancer and other disorders, who attend the Haematology Centre at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital (RD&E).
Colleagues in North Devon have chosen Spark UK, a mental health charity which is run by young people for young people, to spark conversations around mental health.
East Devon offices have picked Hospiscare, a hospice charity providing specialist care to patients and their families living with life-limiting illnesses across Exeter, Mid and East Devon.
South Devon have chosen Woodside Animal Welfare Trust, an animal rehoming charity based on the outskirts of Plymouth.
Finally, our Somerset offices have selected Brainwave, a charity which exists to help children with disabilities achieve greater independence by aiming to improve their mobility, communication skills and learning potential through a range of specialist therapies.
All of our offices are already raising funds and are brainstorming new exciting fundraising opportunities, with some colleagues already committed to participating in the Three Peaks Challenge and a sky dive.
Becky Hayes, charity ESG lead said: “It’s great that we can support charities local to us and their work in the community. It’s not all about raising money either, we want to make a real difference and support our charities in other ways, including with their own events or projects, through volunteering and raising awareness.
“All our teams are really enthusiastic, and we have already held events and have some fantastic fundraising events planned in the next few months. Our South Devon offices organised a fantastic bingo event on 11 April at Plymouth Argle raising over £8,000 with many of the raffle prizes donated by local businesses. Our Somerset team are busy organising a ‘mouse racing’ event, and towards the end of April our East Devon team will be taking part in a sky dive.”
