New director appointed to head up Westcotts’ Crediton team
A new director has been appointed to head up our Crediton office. Accountant Matt Melksham joins the firm with more than 23 years’ experience and will lead the four-strong team, while supporting a growing number of clients in mid Devon.
A Fellow Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA), Matt will oversee the growth and development of Westcotts in the area and brings significant specialist expertise across a diverse range of sectors.
Originally from the South West, Matt has local knowledge and experience of working with long-standing clients in agriculture, pharmaceutical, estates, charities, and not-for-profit, professional services including the legal sector, as well as renewable energy and hospitality.
Prior to joining Westcotts, Matt spent the last five years as director owner of an independent firm of accountants in Exeter and before that, as a partner of a general practice in North Devon looking after clients ranging from sole traders to large corporate businesses.
Commenting on his appointment, Matt Melksham, said: “I’m proud to be joining Westcotts and helping to guide the excellent team in Crediton. One of my key strengths is being able to provide real personal care and attention when it comes to collaborating with clients. By offering very specialist advice, by supporting them and helping them to progress and grow is at the heart of everything we do.
“Having a real passion for client care and bringing together all the services that our clients could need under one roof, combined with having the skills and local knowledge, is what Westcotts does so well – it’s such a highly respected and well-established firm in the South West.”
Shona Godefroy, managing partner of Westcotts, added: “We are delighted that Matt is joining the team at Westcotts and his specialist expertise and knowledge will provide a further boost for the firm. By adding value, making sure our clients are well looked after, giving that first-class service, and building on the very personal relationships that we have with our clients is what we do best. I’ve no doubt that Matt will be a great addition to the team.”
Matt studied at the University of Plymouth before embarking on a career in hospitality, working in a Michelin-starred kitchen in Bath. He later qualified as an accountant while training at an independent accountancy firm in Bath.
Matt is married with three daughters and lives in Bickleigh, between Exeter and Tiverton. He is a governor of St Peter’s Church of England Aided School in Exeter, as well as a trustee of several organisations including the Mid Devon-based registered charity Churches Housing Action Team (CHAT).
In his spare time, Matt enjoys spending time with his family as well as running competitively and has taken part in several ultra-marathons, including a 100-mile run.
